Date: 2/20/2011
Description: Jumpoff Ridge
Region: USFS Road 6310 near Index, WA
Companions: Jasper
Distance: 8.2 miles
Elevation Gain: 3540 ft

This one was almost entirely in the snow; about 4-6" of powder on top of a really icy base.

Jasper on Forest Service Road 6310
This portion of the trail hasn't seen the sun for months.

Peaks on Jumpoff Ridge, ~5300'
I made it approximately half way up the ridge.

Peak on the Side of Gunnshy, ~5600'
I like the long shadows the trees are casting. Winter sun!

Gunnshy, ~6200'
It looks like it could be a much larger peak...all about scale. (Notice the trees at the horizon on the right)

Headwaters of Bitter Creek

I followed this trip with a Ballard Brothers Black and Bleu Bacon Burger. Good lord....

Snoqualmie Lake

Date: 2/13/2011
Description: Snoqualmie Lake
Region: Upper Reaches of Taylor River Watershed
Companions: None
Distance: 16.6 Miles
Elevation Gain: 2600 Feet
High Point: 3150 Feet

The distance surprised me, it felt like 12 miles tops. Most of the hike was gently graded on another abandoned USFS road, didn't hit snow until the last mile on the way up.

Garfield Mountain from USFS Road 5600
I almost fell into the Middle Fork for this shot.

Light Rays through the Fuzzy Rain Forest

This was a very Chuckanut moment.

A Shoulder of Mile High, No Joke
Love that rock.

Into the snowpack.

Snoqualmie Lake, 3150'
Almost entirely frozen over.

A Series of Shots from Lake Outlet

Flow towards the outlet provides a preferential pathway for ice to form. Forgot to edit this one completely, oh well.

Dude, this log has a gnarly beard.

Great trail.

Granite Lake

Date: 1/23/2011
Description: Granite Lake
Region: Middle Fork Snoqualmie
Companions: Jasper
Distance: 10.9 miles
Elevation Gain: 3050 ft
High Point: 3200 ft

My first adventure of the new year. Hiked on an abandoned forest service road east of Mt. Si. Didn't encounter snow until almost four miles, near the end of the hike it was drifted 3-4 ft in places.
